Rules
Spuffy Awards operates with several sets of rules. Please read each carefully so that your nomination will not be disqualified.
General Rules | Rules for Voting | Rules for Judging
General Rules
These are the general rules. To see the rules for individual categories, go to the Categories section.
- Fanfictions nominated can have any rating, ex. PG, R, etc.
- You may nominate yourself or someone else.
- Any single story may be nominated in up to 3 categories. Before nominating, please make sure that the story you want to nominate hasn't met its nominating limit!
- An author may be nominated in an unlimited number of categories, but only 2 fanfictions per category.
- A story or author that has won Reader's Choice or Judge's Choice for a particular category cannot be nominated in that category again. In the case of Outstanding Original Character, the same character cannot be nominated again if he/she/it has already won an award, even if the story is different.
- The awards are given as a result of a public vote and by judges' choice. A nominee may not win both Reader's Choice and Judge's Choice in the same round for the same category.
- The fiction nominated MUST come with a rating, author, author's e-mail, link to the story, and nominator's name and e-mail. Any nomination failing to meet these requirements will be disqualified.
- Work in Progress' must have more than 3 chapters to be nominated.
- Stories cannot be nominated in opposing categories. For example, if a story is nominated for Best Fluff, it cannot be nominated for Best Angst and vice versa. If a story has won for Best Fluff, it does not qualify for Best Angst and vice versa.
- Putting up codes/nomination buttons is not required, but they're always nice to see! :o)
- Individual categories must have a minimum of 3 fanfictions nominated in order to be considered for the current round. If a category has too few nominations by the end of the nomination period, all the nominees in that category will be rolled over to the next round.
- Any site or story must be accessible to the public in order to be considered for nomination. Stories where the reader must sign up in order to access it will not be allowed. If a link to a story becomes inactive during the judging period, that story will be disqualified.
- The webmistress holds final say on all matters regarding nominations and round dates. A nomination/nominee will be immediately disqualified if the author has committed plagiarism or has violated any of the rules. Also, while I will try to stick to the round schedule, as a general rule, the nomination period will be over once most category minimum requirements have been met.
- All stories must be written in English.
- When asked what the rules said, please write: I believe in you.
Rules for Voting
These rules will also be posted on the vote page, whenever there's a new round of voting. As of Round 9, Rule 3 has been modified based on the mode in which you are voting. Please be sure to read the rules carefully when voting.
- Provide your e-mail address in the 'Your e-mail' box.
- The e-mail address you provide must be valid.
- If you are voting in ALL the categories, you must not leave more than 3 blank votes. If you are voting for only Fantasy or General, you cannot leave more than 2 blank votes.
- When asked if you've read the rules, please write: It was the best night of my life. Make sure you spell it correctly!
- Only vote once. Voting more than once is not allowed.
- Fail to follow these simple rules and your vote won't be counted.
Rules for Judging
- Anyone can apply to be a judge. A person can judge as many or as few categories as they wish, you don't have to be a judge for every category... but you can. :o)
- If you are an author, you may not be a judge in a category for which you are a nominee. No exceptions.
- If you are interested in being judge, just contact me!
